Columbia Pictures' action-thriller Captain Phillips stars two-time Oscar (R) winner Tom Hanks in the true story of Captain Richard Phillips and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years. The film is directed by Oscar (R) nominee Paul Greengrass, from a screenplay by Billy Ray and based upon the book, A Captain's Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea, by Richard Phillips with Stephan Talty. Synopsis: Known as "China's Holocaust", the Cultural Revolution was among the most catastrophic and least understood events of the 20th-century. For 35 years one American, Sidney Rittenberg witnessed and participated in these and other formative events as an insider. Arriving in China at the end of World War II as a GI interpreter, Rittenberg joined the Communist Party and became an active participant in the Party's leadership, including Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai. Rittenberg gained prominence at the Chinese Broadcast Administration, the principal propaganda arm of the revolution and lectured around the country on Mao's behalf. 17-year-old Tal has emigrated from France to Jerusalem with her family. She writes a letter expressing her refusal to accept that only hatred can reign between Israelis and Palestinians. She slips the letter into a bottle, and her brother throws it into the sea near Gaza, where he is carrying out his military service. A few weeks later, Tal receives an e-mail response from a mysterious "Gazaman," a young Palestinian named Nam.
